Our home is in Fishing Creek Valley, one of the most scenic areas of the Capital Region. It is secluded and private, yet it is close to everything. We are located only 3 1/2 miles from the River and have all the services and amenities one would want if they lived in a development. I think I would say what we love most about our home is the quiet we hear when we sit on our patio; the connection we have to the land and the deer and turkey which we see regularly; and the architectural design we used to bring the outside "in" with no window blinds or curtains on any window.
We built our home and have lived in it for 28 years. It is very hard to leave, what I would describe as one of the most beautiful homes in the area. Not only is it a great home to live in, but the design readily lends itself to entertaining. From the 20 foot great room ceiling, to the adjoining large dining room, there is a perfect flow from cocktails to dinner. And, we have continuously maintained and upgraded the home. We did two additions which added a larger family room off the kitchen, and a sun room / sports facility area in the rear of the house.
The Hydroworx Pool is unique and a wonderful amenity for people interested in keeping in shape, or just maintaining a healthy weight. The home is built from red wood and glass. The windows are huge, and bring the natural beauty of the land into the house during all 4 seasons (although the winter snows are the most beautiful). The bathrooms have been upgraded with unusual and beautiful designer features. The ground water heating / cooling system works extremely well and is very inexpensive. And, we love the huge, private back patio for reading, entertaining and chilling out !
Our area attends Central Dauphin Schools, though we sent our sons to the Harrisburg Academy. Each of those schools are serviced by school buses which pick up children on Potato Valley Road.
We shop at both Giant on Linglestown Road, as well as Wegmans and the new Weis Market off Wertzville Road. We also have plenty of nice restaurants nearby: The Stoney Creek Tavern in Dauphin, the Glass Lounge and The Boro on Front Street, and Chars and Tavern on the Hill are more upscale, and close by. Again, this home is only 10 miles from downtown Harrisburg for all their restaurants and night life, and maybe 15 miles from Hershey.
We have truly enjoyed our time here at Whispering Pines, and we are certain that you will too!
