To the future owner of 3961 Dora Drive,
3961 Dora Drive is a fantastically located home! It is a super close to downtown if you work in the City...I think it was approximately a 7 mile commute for me! It also is close to Jonestown Road for any store or restaurant you want to access, and even closer to Lingelstown Road for groceries and pharmacy. Finally, it is quick access to all major Interstates and the Turnpike for those weekends you want to get out of town. All of this, while enjoying an established neighborhood with full grown beautiful trees, friendly, helpful neighbors, and houses that are not on top of each, but each that have their own spacious yards!
This location is conveniently located to many restaurants and stores. My fiancée and I are experts at eating out and there are some local favorites we LOVE, especially Italian Delight or Toninos Pizza & Grille to share a pizza and a chef salad, and then on to 3B's for our favorite ice cream. A giant "Giant" is just down the road for gas, groceries and pre-made items to make dinner a little easier. If you are looking for a relaxing day of nails and pedicures, VK Nails is right down the road (the best around)! You can get good wings and catch a game at Aroogas, or the Eagle! Hungry for Chinese, check out Hong Kong Ruby in Patton Plaza off of Linglestown Road). Need a protein fix...head over to Jonestown Road and hit up Mission BBQ, you won't regret it! And finally back to my beloved Linglestown Road, grab your morning coffee at Dunkin...America runs on it, and De'von is the best (you'll know him if you have the pleasure of being waited on by him)!
God has not blessed me with my own biological children, but one of the reasons I originally purchased a home in Lower Paxton Township off of Linglestown Road was because of the reputation of the schools. My friends with school age children validated my previous research, and have confirmed the rewarding education their children are receiving at North Side Elementary, Central Dauphin Middle School, and Central Dauphin Senior High School.
I remodeled the house from an off-white aluminum siding to the taupe wide slat Mastic siding. I chose to frame the house with bright white border and vents, and black architectural roof. I love the way it looks! Every time I drive up Mark Avenue (vertical to Dora Drive), I feel proud and think the house looks really good. I have been busy on the inside too! I cannot express how much I love the quartz countertops against the champagne aluminum tile backsplash in the kitchen. I think it looks clean and sleek, not to mention super easy to maintain. The upstairs master bath is like a luxurious wake up each morning with the cool white marble tiles and subway silestone (another quartz product) that makes the shower walls. Silestone was by far one of the best investments I chose for the bathroom-there is no maintenance of caulk like traditional ceramic tile and very easy to clean. I wanted a master bath that felt as clean in style and luxuries as I experience when staying at a high-end hotel. There is a ton of storage space throughout the house with large closets (check out the giant one in the foyer), and there are wooden shelfs that line the garage that hold everything and more! Finally, if you too enjoy the styling and want to maintain the finishes there are extra of all the materials available for you in the garage: travertine and white ceramic tile (upstairs hall bathroom floor and bathtub/shower walls), marble (master bath floor), duraceramic tiles and aluminum tiles (foyer/downstairs bathroom/ kitchen floor and kitchen backsplash respectively), and finally, a beautiful polished piece of quartz (kitchen countertop) that the vendor left for me because they polished the wrong end. I always wanted to use that to make an end table for the screened in porch. Maybe you can fulfill the vision or find some other cool use for it! Enjoy!
Leaving this house is bittersweet for me. It has been a solid, strong house for me for the past 13 years. I felt it the first time I walked through the front door! It was not "new" construction, it was better, it had smooth, cool plaster walls, it had a great big flat yard for my beloved puppy dog, it had a ginormous master bedroom, it only had one other owner who raised their family there, the builder of the home still lives in the neighborhood, and simply put, it was more house then I ever believed I could have as my first home! The house has been a labor of love. I enjoyed updating and remodeling it from the original style that existed when I moved in. It has been my pleasure to own it, and I hope you continue where I left off and love it as much as I have!
