To the future owners of 257 E. Granada Avenue,
This house was built to accommodate lots of kids and guests. It's spacious, with practical features for entertaining including a living room and dining room that can be isolated from the ruckus of the family room. The billiard room and den are a great place for teens to hang out. And with features like a dumbwaiter to bring groceries from the garage, dual dishwashers, and a warming drawer, entertaining groups is easy.
The best feature of the house is its quality. We oversaw the building of the house and made sure that everything was done with precision and care. The custom moldings, decorator-glass interior doors, whole-house ethernet and cable wiring, and 3/4 inch solid wood first floor are icing on a well-built cake.
We love the 560 sq ft back deck, which is completely surrounded by tall arborvitaes for privacy. The outdoor furniture can easily be stored in the winter because our attached garage is almost four times the size of a normal two-car garage. Whether you are a car collector or just accumulate lots of stuff, there's plenty of room.
We are lucky enough to live just a short walk from Derry Township's elementary, middle, and high schools. The neighborhood kids can skip the school bus and don't have to ask their parents to make special trips to pick them up after team practices or other extra-curricular activities. It's also a pleasant walk to the public library, which has the most helpful staff we have ever encountered.
This home sits on a quiet road but remains in close proximity to all of the local amenities. The Pantry is a Hershey tradition and is great for brunch, lunch, or dinner. It's less than a three-minute drive, so it's convenient as well as delicious. We've gotten several of our visitors hooked on the turkey and cranberry sandwich on cinnamon bread. And we feel great about supporting a locally-owned restaurant instead of the chains.
This home is also close to grocery stores, pharmacies, and other businesses. Believe it or not, our guests are amazed by the hand-held scanner feature at the Giant grocery store on Cocoa Ave. We take it for granted, but our guests from Silicon Valley are impressed. Between the short drive to get there, bagging your groceries immediately after you take them off the shelf and scan them, and no lines to pay, a major grocery stock up can be done in less than half an hour!
Living downtown means that the magnificent Hershey Theatre is just a short walk away. It's a unique piece of history and a gorgeous venue. We enjoy going to Hershey Symphony Orchestra concerts, touring Broadway musicals, and shows by famous stand-up comics.
There are so many things to love about Hershey, and we have truly enjoyed our time here!
