To the future owners of 1817 Roberts Valley Road,
I purchased my home particularly for it's location. I was tired of fighting traffic for the commute to work and I love the mountain setting. This house is close to everything, but it seems so far away from the hustle and bustle of town. The higher quality materials used in this home were appealing to me - love all the brickwork and redwood siding (I wasn't a big fan of vinyl siding). Being an outdoor enthusiast, this location is perfect. Within 15 minutes are mountains with great hiking and hunting, or boating and fishing on the Susquehanna.
My patio area is one of the great features of my home. It's very private and quiet, so perfect to relax and unwind while grilling and enjoying a drink. I spend a lot of time in the huge detached garage. It was used for part time plumbing and taxidermy for extra income, but now I just enjoy tinkering around.
Some lovely features inside my home are large brick walls and all the French doors to the patio, which let a lot of light into the house. The 3/4" tongue and groove wood vaulted ceilings and wainscoting throughout the first floor are beautiful. The large first floor master bedroom is my favorite area.
The Harrisburg area is a wonderful place to live. It is within driving distance of New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and all the shore points, but the cost of living is much lower than in the larger cities. There is always something to do. The Farm Show and Giant Center have events all year round. Sports are represented in baseball, hockey, soccer, horse racing, sprint cars and all high school sports.
Every type of restaurant, bar scene and private club can be found in the area. I go to Giant for my groceries, which is only 4 miles away. They have good prices and nice produce. You also get a discount on gasoline. There are numerous eateries within a couple miles of home on Front St. Great breakfast at Front St. Diner, great lunch at the Boro and great dinners at the Glass Lounge.
I am certain that you will enjoy your time here as much as I have!
