Welcome to 298 Mindy Drive! We appreciate your interest in this property and invite you to make yourselves at home here!
We purchased this home in 2016 from the original owners, who incorporated many wonderful and unique features into its design. From the stunning brick and stonework outside, to the beautiful hand painted accents in the dining room and the custom-made window treatments throughout the house, it was clear to us that this home had been thoughtfully designed and lovingly maintained.
We were also looking for a home with a pool and a fenced yard for our two spaniels. As you can see, this home delivers all that and so much more. Located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and situated on over an acre of beautifully landscaped, private grounds, our home has been a wonderful place to live, and the perfect venue for many joyous celebrations.
We moved here from Falmouth, Maine. We have two grown children: our son is an attorney for a large east coast company and our daughter is in her second year of medical school in Center City. She received her undergraduate degree from Penn State, which is what actually lead us to move from Maine to Pennsylvania. We also have a very large extended family scattered around eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Convenient to the airport and train station, and spacious enough to accommodate our entire family, Mindy Drive has been the perfect gathering spot for our loved ones. Last Thanksgiving, I prepared a sit-down dinner for 17 people! And most of them spent the night!
This home has a brilliant floor plan, whether you’re entertaining or just living a simple life. When my husband is not traveling for work, he often works from home. Our ground floor ‘in-law suite’ has been absolutely perfect for his home office. With its private outside entrance, large office space, full bathroom and additional living room -conference room area, the suite offers him the convenience of working from home, along with the quiet and privacy that his work often requires.
This versatile ‘in-law suite’ can also easily be transformed to any other purpose. It could become a wonderful private refuge for an aging loved one, or could be converted to an area where children could study at home. The possibilities are endless. Plus, by simply sliding open a convenient pocket door located in the suite’s center hallway, its rooms can instantly convert back to a beautiful extension of the main house.
Upstairs the private master suite has a large walk in closet and a spacious en suite bathroom, with an incredible jacuzzi soaking tub. At the other end of the upstairs hallway are three large bedrooms, and a nicely situated, spacious hall bathroom with a double sink vanity and a shower/tub combination. There is the cutest wide display ledge in the vaulted entry that runs the length of the entryway. We have often placed elaborate Halloween and Holiday decorations in that display space, to the delight of our family and our neighbors!
Speaking of our neighbors – they are so nice! We quickly became good friends with many of them. My husband always takes an evening walk with our field spaniels, and it often turns into a social hour with our neighbors! Mindy Drive has a nice mix of different kinds of families and people of all ages. We often see the school age kids lined up at the corner in the morning waiting for the school bus, and they are quite adorable.
I am an accountant and I worked for an attorney in Hershey. My office was in one of the historical mansions on Chocolate Avenue, so we have our favorite dining and shopping places both nearby and in Hershey.
In Hershey, for business lunches and happy hours – it’s Houlihan’s, hands down. For an elegant dinner, don’t miss Harvest at the Hotel Hershey. And just down the street from Hershey Park are the high end Tanger Outlet stores, which is a fantastic place to shop.
Our home is conveniently located to tons of shopping and restaurants on Jonestown Road and Allentown Blvd. like Giant, Target, Home Depot and Costco. Our favorite nearby restaurants are Vino Italian Restaurant on Allentown Blvd., Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar in nearby Susquehanna and the Millworks Restaurant in Harrisburg. We think the best pizza is from Toninos on Jonestown Road (try the chicken Caesar pizza) and nearby Mission BBQ is also insanely good. But the truth is, there are so many stores and restaurants along Jonestown and Allentown, you should have no trouble finding whatever you might be looking for.
We are regulars at Spring Gate Vineyard, which is only a few miles from the house. They offer wine, beer and snacks, and they often have gourmet food trucks on site as well. They have a huge grassy area where you can put down a picnic blanket or sit in adirondak chairs around the fire pits and listen to live music into the night. It’s a wonderful place to unwind after work, or to enjoy a warm Sunday afternoon with friends.
So, with such a beautiful home to live in and such a great area to explore – you might be wondering - why would we consider selling?
A few years ago, we purchased a lake house in Maine – that needed a lot of work! And since then we have been renovating that house to turn it into our dream retirement home. So as much as we have loved it here on Mindy Drive, we think the time has come to say goodbye to this wonderful house, filled with many happy memories, and move on to the next chapter of our lives.
So thank you for coming to see our home on Mindy Drive. We hope that you love this house as much as we have. We wish you much success as you search for your next home, and we wish you every happiness once you find it!
Warmest regards, The sellers
