We purchased our home because we liked the balance of indoor and outdoor space and the fantastic location. We also relished the opportunity to do many upgrades and customizations during the building process. Our interesting moment in the building process was when the builder realized that a vent was in the wrong place. When we were told, we worked with the builder to take advantage of the placement to create an extra linen closet in the master instead of having it fixed. The builder was open to all of the “extras” and changes we wanted to make, which made our home truly feel unique.
The first floor master is a pleasure, the closets are huge, we customized almost every room, and the master shower is like your own personal spa. The added study has been incredibly helpful during the unexpected work from home period. We hand selected every counter, fixture, and color. The open floor plan coupled with the farmhouse motif makes the home feel incredibly spacious while the barn doors and fireplace keep the mood warm and cozy. Our family jokes when they visit that the home came straight out of a magazine.
Giant is a short walk or even shorter drive away. To gas up and get snacks, Turkey Hill is just a few minutes drive from home. Our favorite restaurant is Gabriella’s for their awesome pastas, great ambience, and wonderful spirits. The best pizza is Central Dauphin pizza and they are so close that delivery or pickup always comes home hot, no matter what you order from their huge menu. Hong Kong City, Panera, Chipotle, Two Brothers pizza, and, of course, Starbucks are some of our other frequented spots, but the nearby restaurant list is extensive and many are great!
As newcomers to central Pennsylvania, we have been welcomed to a friendly, warm community. The people in our neighborhood and the entire area have been extremely welcoming, kind, and hospitable. We love having plenty of space while being close to all the shopping, restaurants, and cultural events we could want. We can hike the Fort Hunter Conservancy in the afternoon to enjoy the great views and have a fantastic dinner at Gabriella’s the same evening. Our college age children love to visit to feel “young” again, whether enjoying the large yard or going to miniature golf and custard at Meadows.
